Cis female per the needs of making Morgan (see what I said about Azelle), though like Camilla she dresses like a drag queen so there’s some entertaining headcanons there if one is so inclined.

I have no idea. She’s very much a loner even though she weaponizes sex – something I can wholly relate to.

A random headcanon:

I don’t really buy into the reveal that she was an entirely innocent villager until she was kidnapped and brainwashed by the Grimleal. Aversa’s in a weird spot characterization wise because we’re meant to believe she was invented more or less from the ground up à la Sonia even though she’s still human and there’s an air of deliberate construction similar to Camilla’s in her behavior.

General opinion over said character:

Meh. FE has several more interesting temptress figures, and FE13 has several units who can fulfill a role comparable to hers better.

Sexuality Headcanon:

Bi with a preference for men and masculine-presenting people generally, hence why he’s got a camaraderie with Lethe but has no patience for either Lyre or Kyza – and the paired ending with Ike, of course.

Gender Headcanon:

Cis male, but I can see him being more genderfluid in the bedroom if his partner’s into it.

A ship I have with said character:

Ike/Ranulf. Ranulf/Skrimir could technically work as well, but there’s less to build off.

A BROTP I have with said character:

Skrimir if they’re not having wild cat sex, Giffca, Lethe, Amy (Calill and Largo’s daughter)

A NOTP I have with said character:

Ranulf/Lyre. At least if he’s with Kyza the sex can be hilariously awkward.

A random headcanon:

Very few people get to see him without his distinctive hat. It throws everyone (Ike definitely included) off when they see him bare-headed for the first time.

General opinion over said character:

A fun guy with some memorable lines and a decent amount of story presence across both games, which is more than many Tellius characters can claim. He’s also average to above average as a unit in both, especially surprising given how annoying non-royal laguz gauges can be. I like his rapport with Ike, and I like that their paired ending offers an alternative to Ike/Soren that can be just as if not more enjoyable to read fic for. 

Also the porn is unquestionably hotter – cat boy!

Azelle

Sexuality Headcanon:

Mostly straight, but he and Lex are really close *nudge nudge wink wink*

Gender Headcanon:

Has to be cis male so the breeding mechanics make sense, but then I’m not an expert on trans headcanons so I’m sure someone could figure something out given the motivation to do so.

A ship I have with said character:

Lex/Azelle is proto-Hector/Eliwood so I like it, and hopefully their dynamic will be even more endearing and messy (per their current circumstances) in a remake. Azelle/Tailtiu for marriage purposes and also for my preferred breeding setup.

A BROTP I have with said character:

Lex of course. Maybe Sigurd? His relationship with Arvis is a…peculiar subject.

A NOTP I have with said character:

Not a fan of Azelle/Edain because one Midir is enough, thank you very much. I also never do LTC runs, so using Rescue to speed through Chapters 4 and 5 isn’t worth totally screwing over Lester.

A random headcanon:

I can’t see Arvis letting him die at Belhalla, but the ensuing familial situation with the Velthomers could not possibly have been pretty. Especially if Hilda was involved somehow…how is she related to them anyway?

General opinion over said character:

Not very fun to use as a unit because it’s Horse Emblem and fire magic is terrible, but he’s a strong father for some of the kids. I do prefer Eliwood and his dynamic with his intimately close blue-haired BFF, but Azelle’s got his entertaining moments. I like how the two of them and Tailtiu all get to express their conflicted feelings over fighting their families, and how they all approach the prospect differently.

Pretty definitely gay. It’s hard to tell based off his canon interactions since there’s nothing sexual and not much that could be construed as romantic, so that could just be the predominantly male cast surrounding him and also my own biases.

A ship I have with said character:

Sheith, mostly. Shance/Shklance has merits for smut fic but I don’t see it being plausible otherwise.

A BROTP I have with said character:

All the paladins other than Keith since they’re clearly on their own level, but Pidge mostly because they had a few good episodes of bonding. Possibly Lance if they did more with the two of them.

A NOTP I have with said character:

It takes a lot to get me to NOTP something for any reason other than “it’s M/F so I really don’t care” which still isn’t a matter of being passionately opposed, but on that note – Allura, and also Romelle if they decide to lean toward what was (I think?) Shiro’s canon pairing in earlier versions of the show.

A random headcanon:

Shiro always seems like he’s used to being the oldest and most experienced guy around, so it’s no wonder his sense of humor is (humorously) a bit lacking. He reminds me of Mako from The Legend of Korra in that it’s funny to imagine him trying to cut loose and enjoy himself and…not be very good at it. The D&D episode in S6 was great for this.

General opinion over said character:

A strong leader figure with more personality conflicts than I initially expected, and I can absolutely see him as a guy who’d have a mentor relationship with someone younger that would grow into something stronger. That kind of dynamic is central to a lot of the literature surrounding the gay male experience, and it’s annoying that antis like to reduce that to “pedophilia” (actually ephebophilia) and “incest” (actually not, though I’d hate to be the one to tell them about the prominence of self-identified daddies in gay male circles, or what twinks are). Shipping wars aside, I’d like to see what they do with Shiro now that the clone project has been exposed. I’m not crazy about his new all white hair, but maybe it’ll grow on me.

This week I’m staying at the house of one of my maternal cousins so that I can take care of her cat while she’s away visiting other family. This has allowed me to enjoy temporarily many of the common amenities I’ve come to view as luxuries in the three years since my father (who is now off his deathbed, incidentally) began limiting access to large sections of my own house.

I won’t dwell on many of those as their absence from my life and the convoluted workarounds I’ve had to develop to continue living there are genuinely appalling if thought about for any length of time, but on a more positive note I plan to take advantage of the unlimited internet access here to get Darkest Dungeon, particularly since I believe new DLC content is scheduled for release tomorrow. Updates presumably to come when I get around to that.
