A question for any other multilingual (partially or fully) Catholics out there: do you ever get tripped up over what language to use to refer to various religious elements?  I mean, I usually refer to feast days, periods of the liturgical calendar, and saints by their French names, but I’m at an odd impasse when it comes to naming the Blessed Mother.  Marie, Maria (for use in Latin), or Mary?  And then there are certain traditions that call her St. Mary, even though as I learned it she is above the saints and therefore should not be referred to as such.

If I’ve been relatively silent the last few days it’s because the Triduum pascal (the Thursday through Sunday leading up to and including Pâques) is a period when I’m dogmatically obligated to spend far more time in church than I should like.

I can’t wait to celebrate the end of Carême and la Semaine Sainte at midnight on Monday with a blowjob.
